American artist AJ Fosik creates intricate, 3d sculptures that reference folk art, taxidermy, and cultural rituals. Using hundreds of pieces of wood and found materials, he creates figurative and intricately designed works. Sharp teeth, claws and eyes emerge when the pieces are finished – some are constructed as freestanding sculptures while others are wall-mounted, referencing taxidermy and hunting trophy practices. Themes of empathy and synthesis are common in his work. In my opinion ,these pieces of art are much better than traditional hunting trophies. Here are 18 of my favorites, taken from the artist’s Instagram.
