No one likes to be humiliated. And being embarrassed in front of your friends, neighbors, co-workers, or third grade class can haunt your forever. But there’s one good thing to be said about public chagrin…it’s dang funny. (For other people we mean. For sure it’s not funny for the person being embarrassed. No, for him or her it’s usually awkward and awful.) The truth is that without other people’s most mortifying mistakes being put on display, there’d be very little to laugh at in life. So, the next time you’re facing the reality of a huge mistake, remember that we’ve all been there and that we’re definitely laughing *at* you.
