Electron microscopes are powerful. They are able to magnify up to 10,000,000x, and thus can show us details of objects and life around us that aren’t seen by the naked eye.
And as it turns out… When things can be magnified that much, they either get really fascinating or overly terrifying. Either way, these are some of the most amazing things I’ve seen under electron microscopes….
Enteric-Coated Drug-Delivery Capsule
A Pineapple Leaf
The Sticky Section of a Post-It-Note
A Human Sweat Pore
The Surface of an Old Penny
An Ant Carrying a Microchip
Salt & Pepper
Raw Sugar Crystals
Blue Bottle Fly Larvae
A Chicken Embryo
A Hydrothermal Worm
Ear Wax Secretion
Filament of a Tungsten Lightbulb
A Gecko’s Foot
I don’t know about you, but I could look at images from electron microscopes all day long. I’ve got another one coming soon, so stay tuned. And… Which one was your favorite?
