WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

That having lots of money is probably one of the least important things a parent can work toward.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

My son died and I didn’t even know him because I was never there always on the road trying to bring in more money when the truth is we had more than enough.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

We camped the hell out of every summer.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

We lost our son to suicide last December & I wish I would have known how much he was struggling.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

I would have spent more time with my kids. I wish I would have taken more pictures & yelled less.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

Tell my children not only that I love them but that I am proud to be their Mother. Always.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

Just how dark the road is when you lose a child.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

Spent more time enjoying those little moments watching his eyes light up as he discovered something new.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

That our last words were always I love you whether going to sleep, leaving the house for work.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

That the minimum of 18 years with your child isn’t a guarantee.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

Had family photos done at least once in the 11 weeks he lived.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

Baptize him, love him and taking over 1000 pictures in 11 weeks.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

That no matter if you have 1 child or 10, losing one of them is like a sucker-punch to the gut that never stops hurting.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

I wish I had done better for my other kids. I wallowed in my grief and my other boys suffered so much because of it.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

That I stayed with him during his hospital stay. He was only 8 months old, but he had spent 5 of those months in the hospital. I was there the entire time.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

That once you lose a child, most people no longer consider you a parent.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

Making sure everyone in the family had a chance to meet him – his death was sudden.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

Keep his memory alive. We still talk about him, have pictures up of him.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

I wish I would have known that my daughter wasn’t going to survive cancer beyond the age of 8.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

Had I known, I would have spoiled her even more…

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

And this is quite the contradiction, but I always treated her, Michaela was her name, as though she was grown up.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

I wish I’d known more about my son’s condition, as it was very unlikely you never think it will happen to you.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

I wish I’d have acted sooner and trusted my instincts when I knew something was wrong.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

That I had a chance to say goodbye to both of my boys. To bathe them and cuddle them before they passed away. I’m also glad the hospital took pictures whilst they were alive.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

Every moment, even the irritating ones, should be cherished and enjoyed. I wish I’d known how precious the tiniest moments can be, how magical. I would have appreciated them more.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

Taken more pictures, more videos. After a few years, the pictures in my head faded, his voice faded. The hurt starts all over again, because there are no more chances to capture.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

Laugh with him. My son made being a parent very hard and yet, very easy. He was a happy child and he made me laugh, even when I was mad at him. Let me hear just one more laugh.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN AS A PARENT:

That it could happen more than once. My husband and I lost two babies (both around 4 months), different causes.

WHAT YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY AS A PARENT:

More snuggles, patience, pictures.

WHAT YOU ARE THANKFUL YOU MADE SURE TO DO AS A PARENT:

I kissed them goodnight every night, they both knew I loved them. I still do this with my remaining two children.
